2. Scope
FoliaRead is a local reading app from Guilin Sanyu Technology Co., Ltd.. This policy applies to the Android app, package cn.tricosmos.foliaread. The iOS app has its own privacy policy. No FoliaRead account is required. We do not operate a library sync server or upload your books and notes to a FoliaRead backend.
3. Local information
Books, downloaded files, saved article text, reading positions, annotations, bookmarks, sources, imported fonts and preferences are stored in the app’s private storage. Remove items in the library to delete their active content and notes. Uninstalling the app removes its private data. Copies you exported to other locations remain under your control.
4. Files and backups
The Android file picker lets you select files to import or locations for exports; FoliaRead does not request access to all files. Manual backups contain your library and preferences and can include private content and original article URLs. Store them securely. Source passwords, browser cookies and purchase state are excluded. Android automatic cloud backup and device-transfer backup are disabled.
5. Websites and sources
When you open a website, use an OPDS source, download a book or load another article page, that service receives your request and ordinary connection information, such as your IP address. Its own privacy policy applies. HTTP sources are not encrypted in transit. Book-source browser sessions are isolated when supported by Android System WebView; saved OPDS passwords are encrypted with a device Keystore key. You can clear source sessions in Settings or delete a source. Saved article text is extracted on your device. Additional article pages may require a fresh website login.
6. Speech, media and notifications
Reading aloud uses your selected Android text-to-speech provider; some voices send text to that provider to generate speech. You can choose and preview an installed offline voice in FoliaRead Settings, or use the system default voice. Background audio uses a media-playback foreground service with playback controls. Notification permission is used for playback notifications. On Android 17 and later, local-network permission is requested for LAN sources.
7. Google Play and advertising
In the Google Play edition, Google Play processes subscriptions and payments, and FoliaRead reads purchase status to determine VIP access without receiving card details. The website APK does not integrate Google Play Billing or initiate purchases or subscription restoration. Basic reading and full backups do not require the Google Play Store or Google Play services. The website edition retains AdMob and consent management; unavailable advertising does not block reading. Advertising, when enabled, uses Google Mobile Ads and Google’s consent platform. These services may process IP-based approximate location, device or advertising identifiers, ad interactions, diagnostics and performance information under Google’s policies. Ad consent choices are available in Settings when enabled. The app disables publisher first-party ID and publisher personalization. VIP hides app ads, but third-party websites may show their own ads. There is no separate analytics or crash-reporting service in FoliaRead.
8. Contact and control
For privacy questions, contact contact@tricosmos.cn. Information you voluntarily email is used to respond to your request; do not send passwords, payment credentials or a full library. No FoliaRead account is created, so there is no FoliaRead account deletion process. External website and Google Play accounts are managed with their providers.
9. Children and updates
FoliaRead is a general-purpose reader and is not designed specifically for children. Minors should choose content and use purchases with a guardian’s guidance. Third-party services may process data in other countries and retain it under their own policies. Material changes to data handling will be described in the app or on this page. The update date identifies the policy version.
