2. Scope and overview
This Privacy Policy applies to personal information processing related to your use of the rebuilt iOS version of TodayRate (version 2.5 and later, the “App”) on iPhone and iPad. It does not apply to legacy versions or separate versions for other platforms. Where another version processes information differently, its separately published policy applies.
The App requires no registration or sign-in and has no account system. Currency conversion takes place on your device. Your preferred currencies, favorites, recently used currencies and successfully retrieved exchange-rate caches are stored locally. We do not operate an application backend that receives these usage records.
An internet connection is required to obtain new rates, view bank websites, display ads, and purchase or restore purchases. The relevant third parties may process network, device or transaction information. Please read the following explanations. Reading this Policy does not replace separate consent or system authorization required by law.
3. Information processed on your device
The App processes the following data on your device to provide its features. We do not upload these local records to our servers.
| Information | Purpose | Processing and storage |
|---|---|---|
| Base currency, target currencies and list order, favorite currencies, recently used currencies | Remember your preferences for future queries | Stored in the local application sandbox; you can change currencies, order and favorites in the App |
| Conversion amount you enter and calculated results | Convert amounts between currencies | Calculated in device memory; not sent with rate requests or saved as an amount history |
| Currency catalog, rate snapshots, sources and dates, historical charts and results for specific dates | Display reference rates and cached data | Stored locally; caches are updated with new results and evicted within storage limits |
| Language preference | Remember the interface language | Stored locally; you can change it in Settings |
| Time of the last app-open ad and advertising privacy choices | Control ad frequency and record privacy choices | The ad timestamp is stored locally; UMP processes privacy choices under its own rules |
| Ad-free purchase entitlement status | Determine whether ads should be removed | Apple verifies the transaction and the App determines the entitlement on your device |
We do not ask you to provide your name, mobile number, identity documents, financial accounts, contacts, photos, health information or precise location. Information you voluntarily provide when contacting us is described under “Contact and feedback information.” Information third-party services may process is described in the sections from “Exchange-rate requests” through “In-app purchases and restoration.”
4. System permissions and tracking
The current rebuilt iOS version does not request access to location, contacts, photos, the camera, microphone or notifications. It does not itself request App Tracking Transparency (ATT) authorization or obtain IDFA through the App for tracking across apps.
Not using IDFA does not mean third-party services process no data. The advertising SDK may still process IP addresses, app- or device-related identifiers, advertising interactions and diagnostic information, as described under “Advertising and third-party SDKs.” Regional advertising privacy choices and iOS tracking authorization are separate mechanisms.
If we add features requiring authorization or tracking purposes in the future, we will update the relevant explanations first and seek your choice as required by law before you use those features.
5. Exchange-rate requests
The App connects directly over HTTPS to the Frankfurter public API (https://api.frankfurter.dev/v2/) to retrieve the currency catalog, daily reference rates, historical charts and results for specific dates. Service information is available at https://frankfurter.dev/ .
Requests contain the base currency, target currencies and date or date range queried. The service and its network infrastructure also receive the IP address and ordinary request information necessary to establish the connection. We do not attach conversion amounts, your full favorites list, recently used currency records, purchase receipts or personal identity information to these requests.
Your device sends requests directly to the third party, without passing through our application backend. The third party is responsible for its processing of access logs and similar information; we cannot promise a specific retention period on its behalf. You can stop making online queries and continue viewing cached data. Results may be unavailable for currencies or dates without a cache.
6. Advertising and third-party SDKs
The regular version uses Google AdMob to display banner and app-open ads, and Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) to manage advertising privacy choices in applicable regions. The current version does not display interstitial ads. Once Apple verifies an ad-free entitlement, the App stops requesting and displaying banner and app-open ads.
| Service and provider | Purpose | Information that may be processed |
|---|---|---|
| Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob), Google LLC | Serve and measure ads and maintain advertising services | Network address and approximate region, device- or app-related identifiers, ad impressions and interactions, performance and fault diagnostics |
| Google User Messaging Platform (UMP), Google LLC | Determine applicable advertising privacy requirements and display choices | Network address, consent status, and related interaction and diagnostic information |
These SDKs may send information directly from your device to Google. See the Google Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy and advertising information at https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads . We do not deliberately send your entered amounts, favorites or full currency usage records to the advertising service, and we have not integrated a separate user-behavior analytics SDK.
The App checks advertising consent status, displays UMP messages when required, and starts the advertising service only when UMP permits ad requests and there is no ad-free entitlement. When privacy options are required, “Settings → Advertising privacy options” provides an entry point to review or change your choices. Refusing optional advertising consent does not affect currency conversion. Whether ads can be displayed and their form depend on the applicable rules and your choices.
Tapping an ad may open an advertiser’s website or the App Store. Please read the destination service’s privacy information. Advertisers are responsible for information processing within their pages and services.
7. Official bank websites and website storage
Currency details involving CNY provide links to official exchange-rate pages of Bank of China, ICBC, Agricultural Bank of China, China Construction Bank, Bank of Communications, China Merchants Bank and Postal Savings Bank of China. The App loads a page only when you choose to open its link. You can also open it in the system browser.
Pages connect directly through a system web component to the bank or services used by its website. These providers may process IP addresses, browser or device information, access records, cookies and local website storage to operate the page and for other purposes they disclose. Their privacy policies and notices govern the specific processing.
The App does not ask you to sign in to a bank account or submit card details or passwords on these pages, and does not read bank-page form contents or bank transaction records. Website browsing data is stored separately from exchange-rate caches. Data in the system browser can be managed through its settings.
8. In-app purchases and restoration
Ad removal is an optional, non-consumable, one-time purchase. It is not a subscription and does not renew automatically. Apple App Store and StoreKit handle payment, purchase records and purchase restoration.
The App reads transaction verification results and current entitlements provided by Apple to identify ad-free purchases, including valid purchases of the same product in the legacy version. We do not obtain your bank card number, payment account password or Apple Account password, or upload transaction receipts to our servers. Entitlements are updated according to Apple’s verification results after refunds or revocations.
Apple’s processing of transaction and account information is governed by its privacy policy at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/ . Apple manages purchase records. Removing the App does not delete purchase records held by Apple.
9. Contact and feedback information
When you email us for support, make a complaint or exercise your information rights, we process your email address, message and attachments you voluntarily provide solely to verify and handle your request. Please provide only information necessary to resolve the matter and avoid sending unrelated passwords, bank card information or similar details.
Our email service processes these messages; they are not data automatically uploaded by the App. We retain correspondence for the shortest period necessary to handle the matter. Once it is resolved and retention is no longer necessary for legal obligations or disputes, we delete or anonymize it. Where retention is legally required, we limit its scope and restrict access.
11. Retention, location and security
Currency preferences and similar data remain in your device’s application sandbox until you change or delete the relevant records, delete the App, or the system clears them under its rules. Rate caches are updated or evicted within storage limits; they are not a long-term transaction or query archive.
On iOS, “Offload App” may retain documents and data. To remove local application data, choose “Delete App.” If iOS or iCloud backups are enabled, backup copies are saved and restored under your system settings and must be managed separately. Website cookies and system browser data are also retained according to the relevant web component or browser rules.
We do not operate an application server that centrally stores your local currency records. Third-party providers determine the storage location and retention period for information they receive under their respective policies.
The App uses the system sandbox to protect local data, requests rates over HTTPS, and accepts only Apple-verified purchase transactions. We restrict access to support emails and take response, notification and reporting measures required by law if a personal information security incident occurs. Please protect your device and Apple Account.
12. Third-party services outside your country or region
Frankfurter, Google and Apple services may involve servers or processing outside your country or region. Direct requests to third-party APIs may also transmit network addresses and similar information abroad. The App therefore should not be understood as involving no overseas information processing. See “Exchange-rate requests,” “Advertising and third-party SDKs” and “In-app purchases and restoration” for the relevant information, purposes and providers.
Google’s contact and rights-request channels are described at https://policies.google.com/privacy , Apple’s at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/ , and Frankfurter’s service and contact channels at https://frankfurter.dev/ . You may also ask for assistance through our contact email.
We will fulfill cross-border processing notices, separate consent and other protection obligations that apply to us under applicable law. This Policy itself does not replace such consent.
13. Your choices and rights
Under applicable law, you have rights to be informed, make decisions, access, obtain copies, correct or delete information, withdraw consent and request explanations of processing rules. Given the App’s features, you can:
- View and change the base currency, target currencies, list order and favorites in the App, and change language in Settings.
- Use iOS “Delete App” to remove local application data. Manage system backups and browser data separately in the relevant settings.
- Change advertising choices when “Advertising privacy options” is displayed, or submit requests under Google’s privacy policy.
- Stop using online queries and bank websites; cached results remain viewable locally.
- Manage transaction and account information through Apple’s channels.
- Email us about feedback information we hold. The App has no account system, so account closure is not required.
Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already carried out on the basis of consent before withdrawal. We will respond within 15 working days of receiving your request. If verification is necessary, we request only information proportionate to the request. If a legal requirement prevents us from fulfilling a request, we will explain why. We cannot directly read or change data stored only on your device.
14. Protection of minors
The App is not primarily directed at children under 14. Minors should use it with the consent and guidance of a guardian, and obtain guardian consent before purchasing. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 14.
If a guardian discovers that a child has provided personal information without consent, please email us. We will verify the situation and assist with deletion or other measures as required by law. For information held by third parties, we will help you contact the relevant provider.
15. Changes to this Policy
We will update this Policy and publish the update date when features, information processing or applicable rules change. Material changes to purposes, methods, information categories or third-party services will be communicated through in-app notices or release notes. Where new consent is legally required, we will seek it before the relevant processing begins.
We do not infer consent to new optional personal information processing solely from your continued use of the App. This Policy takes effect on the date shown on this page.
16. Contact and complaints
For questions about this Policy, personal information processing or rights requests, contact Guilin Sanyu Technology Co., Ltd. at contact@tricosmos.cn. If you believe your personal information rights have been infringed, you may complain to competent cyberspace, industry and information technology, public security or other authorities, or seek other remedies under applicable law.
